Dozens of years ago, as the famous Negro Martin Luther King shouted to theAmerica, “I have a dream, I have a dream”, did he notice that his declaration offreedom would be the light to those who fights for people’s liberty? And, as wecan see, his dream made his legend, in other word dream makes people to begreat. Right now I just wonder in the future whether I could be somebody likeMartin Luther King who fought for people’s freedom or somebody like Bill Gateswho donated all his fortune to help poor people or I’ll be like most people tobe a nobody who gets a ordinary job and forms a family, living peacefully therest life. No matter what kind of above, the point is no matter who you are, nomatter where you are, please always have a dream. And this dream will make youget power to get progress; this dream will show you the direction like thebeacon to the ship on the sea in the night.
From ancient time to the recent years, we see too many famous successfulpeople like Confucius in China and Dr. King, as mentioned above, in the UnitedStates. Confucius made great influence to Chinese culture by his Confucianism, and Dr. King push the progress to the liberty of the blacks in the America. Theyboth made great contribution to their country, and how they made this? Part ofthe reason why, I think, is that they had dreams that care about the people inthe world. And more important, in my opinion of view, they throw their entirelives to make their dreams come true. That means they always keep learning, learning from books and learning from living lives. And this is what we need tolearn: have a dream in mind and keep pursuing on it.
Through this we see that a dream is something we can make it come true byour hard working, and this is what a dream is different from a reverie. See thismeans we need to take action, if we really have a good dream. We need study wellin the school, we need focus on the direction of our dream, and we need toremind ourselves from time to time: don’t forget our dreams. Maybe when othersare playing basketball, but you are at the desk to figure out the difficult mathexercises; maybe when others are watching TV series, but you are still on thebooks which you need in your composition. All these will be worth when you getto the top of your dreaming mountain. As the saying says, “mountain’s high, butman makes the peak”. So finally just let wish good luck to those who always havea dream in mind and keeps steps on it.
Ladies and Gentle men. I am honored to deliver a speech here about theimportance of working hard. Diligence is vital to our success in the society, asit sharpens the skill you needed to be success and it helps you to stand out inthe crowd. When I was in grade 10, I did not work hard, because I thought schoolwas easy and I didn't have to work hard to get a good grades. I thought I wasquite a genius indeed. However, when I entered grade 11, things start gettingmore and more difficult, and I started to acquire the habit of hard-woking bydoing my homework every night, and preview school materials before schoolstarts. Quite surprisingly, not only did I pass those difficult course, but alsogot a decent mark. Therefore, hard woking is the way to discover what yourpotentials are and use them to your benefit. I would continue to work diligentlyand hopefully to achieve greatness in the future.
The proverb “No pains, no gains” means that you have to make great effortsif you want to achieve success, for nothing but poverty can be obtained withouteffort.
In history, there have been many famous people of great achievements. Youmay claim that they are geniuses. But behind their successes, they have madegreat efforts in carrying out their tasks. Einstein said “Genius is one percentof inspiration and ninety-nine percent of perspiration.” He had been workinghard for many years before he finally worked out his theory of relativity.Thomas Edison experienced countless failures before he finally invented theelectric bulb. Wang Junxia was able to win the world championship of longdistance race only because she had many years of hard training. Therefore, diligence is the key to success. Doubtless hard work promises fruitful result.Everyone is awarded the right to work hard in order to reach his goal.Apparently, diligence is necessary to success. Happiness is nearly always areward for hard work.
On the other hand, idleness is believed to be the root of all evil. Anyonewho habitually likes idling but desires everything is daydreaming. We should beaware that if we dream away our precious time, when we wake up, it may be toolate for us to achieve anything. So, as college students, we should never stopworking hard so that we will remain successful in the future competitions.
