长期以来，中学英语课已窄化为英语知识的单一讲授与识记，丰富生动的语言知识变成单词、语法、句型等枯燥的知识点。经典英美文学作品能深刻表现出社会精神和人文情怀的特点，生动展示人类活动的变迁和发展。在英语教学中运用经典英美文学作品，通过其中蕴含的丰富的思想、强烈的情感、优美的文字描述，可使学生感知“有思想”的英语、“有情感”的英语、“有文化”的英语，感知英语之中跃动着的生命。笔者将从应用的必要性、应用原则与方法技巧等三个方面，探究一下经典英美文学作品在中学英语教学中的应用。
一、英语教学中应用经典英美文学作品的必要性
（一）新课标的内在要求
英语教学是全面提升学生综合素质、开阔学生国际视野的重要教学内容，也是现实升学考试中的必考科目，因此得到了社会广泛的关注。新课改标准是国家对基础教育的基本规范和要求。在20xx年国家教育部颁布的新的普通高中英语课程标准中明确提出：“就人文性而言，英语课程承担着提高学生综合人文素养的任务，即学生通过英语课程能够开阔视野，丰富生活经历，发展跨文化意识，促进创新思维，形成良好品格和正确价值观，为终身学习奠定基础。”掌握英语知识不是英语课的唯一目标也不是最终目标，而是全面提高人文素养的基础和载体。我们可以借助经典英美文学作品丰满的“血肉”来调动学生的主动性和积极性。并通过引导，使学生能够举一反三，联系实际，激发其研究兴趣和主动研究的精神。
（二）经典英美文学作品的人文价值
不管是何种文学题材，何种文学载体，文学作品在一定程度上都能够反映现实的生活，都是一定社会生活在人脑中反应的产物。经典英美文学作品之所以能够成为“经典”，是因为它能够生动地揭示和展现当代的社会生活风貌和英语的时代精神，具有枯燥的文章无法替代的作用。英语教学不仅仅是让学生记忆大量的单词、熟悉语法，还需要培养学生英语学习的兴趣和自学的能力，更为重要的是体会英语作为一种语言背后所蕴含的文化。经典的文学作品既有丰富的语言知识，更代表那个阶段文学的素养与成就，也反映了一个民族最深处的精神文化，这种人文价值是深层语言学习所要重点培养的内容。
二、英语教学引入经典英美文学作品的原则
（一）充分性原则
在使用经典英美文学作品时，我们应坚持充分使用教材原则，这是一个前提条件。根据新课标的要求，现版的中学英语教科书在每一单元每一章节都会有一个导入语。这些内容并不是装饰可有可无。这些经典英美文学作品都具有典型性、生动且简明扼要。教师在教学中一定要加以重视，好好利用，而不是将其视为点缀。通过文学作品的描写和充分的讲解，会让学生有一种身临其境的感觉。且通俗易懂，可以很好地帮助学生理解当时的生活状态，帮助学生理解作品。
（二）规范性原则
英语不是文学，更不等同于文学。英语是一种语言，是人类描述世界、解释世界、相互交流的媒介。我们学习英语的目的就是要扩展跨文化沟通、向世界讲述中国。经典英美文学作品虽然也能反映英语一些语法和语言习惯，但其中必有一定的夸张性、时代性和价值性。这与语言的规范性要求有一定的差距，因此不能将文学作品中的语言直接作为语言教学的内容。否则容易引起学生对规范英语语法的掌握。
（三）適度性原则
经典英美文学作品有很强的文化价值，但并不是说所有的经典英美文学作品都有语言学习价值。文学可以作为英语教学的辅助工具，但绝不能等同和混淆。也不是所有的英语课都必须使用经典英美文学作品。与其用得不当不好还不如不用，以免起到事倍功半的效果。这就要求教师在运用时掌握好一个度。特别是要考虑中学生的年龄特征和认知水平。要注意所选经典英美文学作品的难易程度，循序渐进。避免过于深奥和艰涩的古典英美文学作品，尽量选择通俗易懂的，富有代表特征的，这样教师就不必在解释内容上浪费时间了。
（四）发展性原则
经典英美文学作品是一个时代文化的反映，代表当时的作家对所处社会环境的反思，是语言教学的重要内容。要想将文学更好地应用在英语教学中，这就要求教师不但要有较深厚的文学积淀，还要能运用生动的语言，吸引学生在阅读文献的时候得到美的享受。做到这点并不容易，这就要求我们的中学英语教师平时要严格要求自己，多增加在这方面的了解和涉猎，多读一些经典欧美文学作品。能够选用恰当的经典欧美文学作品应用到英语教学中来。将文学作品的时代性与语言学习的时代性充分融合，发展英美文学作品的语言功能，弱化文学作品中不符合时代感的内容。
三、英语教学中经典英美文学作品的应用技巧
（一）用文学作品开篇吸引同学注意力
一节好的英语课不仅是要将知识传授给学生，更要引导学生对英语产生兴趣。笔者认为首先好的开头是十分必要的。一个精彩的导入，会使得这节课生动、充满兴趣，能够引起学生的好奇心和学习的积极性与主动性，点燃他们的求知欲，达到良好的互动效果。俗话说万事开头难。一个好的开头，一堂课也就成功了一半。那么如何才能做到引人入胜，精彩又充满知识呢？首先，我们应考虑到我们的教学对象——活泼好动充满好奇心的中学生。兴趣是最好的老师，也是激发学生积极性的'有效方法。在导入新课的时候可以采用多媒体教学。比如在讲到课文的时候，可以先讲一段英文小诗，吸引一下学生的注意力。再让学生分析这首小诗如何翻译更美妙，顺势导出要讲的内容将学生们引入本课的正课学习。当然好的导入不仅仅局限于某种形式，只要是能突出本课的中心，符合课程的要求，我们都应该大胆尝试。
（二）课前充分准备，知识点巧妙引入
很多中学英语教师对经典欧美文学作品的认识还是停留在小说的范畴，事实上诗歌、戏剧、演讲稿、散文等在社会文学作品传播力方面影响更大，可能更为学生所熟知。因此，在英语教学中引入经典文学作品要进行充分的准备，不能生搬硬套，各教学环节要进行充分的设计，让学生们了解、认可、熟悉，进而达到促进英语语言学习的目的。作为授课教师，只有做到自己能够熟练于心，步步为营，力求稳中有变，才能将经典欧美文学作品在英语教学中发挥最大的效力。这就要求在備课时我们要将每一个环节都想到最细，精心地设计好每一个问题和情景。要把握课堂的氛围，烘托课堂气氛，引起认知矛盾，激发学生的好奇心，力求充分发挥学生的想象力。做到稳中有变，并把可能产生问题的概率降到最低。
（三）借助经典英美文学作品创设教学英语情境
英语教育要真正给人以智慧和启迪，使学生成为有情操、会思考的人才，而不是一个小型的英文字典。根据中学英语教材的特点，在正课的授受中，我们应积极为教学创设情境，激发学生想象，帮助理解教材。这时经典英美文学作品就成了一个很好的帮手。受篇幅所限，英语教材很多地方缺乏充分反映社会生活的素材，教师应该尽可能通过各种手段展现人类进程中丰富的英语文化，多角度认识人类社会发展的脉搏，通过文化理解课文中的人物所思、所想，进而熟悉语言在文化反应中的作用。
（四）利用经典英美文学作品的思想感情来升华英语文化接受度
在《全日制普通高中英语教学大纲》和“新课程标准”中都强调要让学生通过对英语知识的学习，形成开放包容的性格，发展跨文化交流的意识与能力，促进思维发展，形成正确的价值观和良好的人文素养。教师在讲完某一章节时，往往都会布置一些课后的练习题让学生们去做，以求巩固知识点。但效果往往不尽如人意。所以，一节好的英语课不仅要包括精彩的开篇，引人入胜的课堂流程，最后的升华情节也是必不可少的。它不但可以帮助学生加深对本课的理解，更能培养学生的自学能力，加强对一些难点、重点的揣摩。通过文学作品，帮助学生更深刻理解课文内容，让学生在经典英美文学作品中寻找英语的脉搏，提高英语语言的使用程度和文化的接受度，达到跨文化交流的能力。
（五）对经典英美文学作品进行批判性的反思
初中学生还处于感性阶段，对待事物往往还停留在事物的表象，而且不太习惯在大的英语背景下进行分析和思考。教师就可以借助经典英美文学作品帮助学生加以理解。但是文学是意识形态的一个重要的组成部分，也有一定的阶级倾向，在一定程度上反映作者的文化情感和价值取向。这些价值取向和人文精神有些与今天我国的国情不相符合。在课堂上使用这些文学作品进行教学的时候，要对其进行批判性的反思，防止不良价值观念对心智尚不成熟的青年学生造成危害。同时引导学生树立社会主义核心价值观，培养学生形成系统性的逻辑思维。

Instead, the CSU and FDP have spent most of theirpolitical energy on tactical projects that are either daft (for the CSU) or petty (the FDP)。

That the FDP is reduced to horse-trading over such minutiae says a lot about the collapse ofthis once-grand liberal party. There are even rumours of a plot to oust him sooner.
